At a minimum, make sure you never exceed 5,000 miles without getting an oil change.

If you want your car to have a long life, you are going to need to find a skilled mechanic who can help. Your car will need periodic maintenance. Just as you have to visit the doctor for an occasional checkup, your car needs to visit the mechanic occasionally. Once you find a good mechanic, HANG ON TO HIM. A reliable, friendly, trustworthy mechanic is irreplaceable.
